Startup and Connections
-
Why does FunToosh take so much
of time to start ?
It takes a while to initialize FunToosh. Java
applications are slow to start than native applications. However, Java
programs will work much faster after initialization.
-
I start FunToosh but nothing
happens ?
This generally happens when there is a corrupt Java
installation or the Java version is lower than 1.5.0.1. Please
reinstall latest Java version or contact your System Administrator to
reinstall latest Java version. The minimum requirement is Java1.5.0.1.
-
FunToosh is not able to connect.
What's the problem ?
First of all please activate your internet
connection. FunToosh cannot activate your internet connection.
Secondly see that you if are behind a firewall then give permission to
java.exe to access the internet. Please refer to firewall section to
know more about configuring firewalls.
Searching
-
What kind of files can I search
with FunToosh ?
You can search for and share any kind of files
including but not limited to audio, video, programs, games, etc.
Example types are html, pdf, doc, mp3, avi, jpg, exe, etc.
-
Why can't I find the file I am
looking for ?
The files available on the Gnutella network depend
solely on the people sharing files on the Gnutella network. If no
relevant searches are available then it means that no one in your
horizon is sharing the file.
-
When does FunToosh stop
searching ?
Unlike some other Gnutella clients, FunToosh shows
you a status line showing the percent of search complete. A 100%
search shows that a search is complete and no more results are to be
expected.
-
The search shows all kinds of
files. Why ? This is because we provide you with a on the
fly search feature which allows you to filter your search results even
when a search is currently on.
Downloading
-
Why do I see total number of
candidates zero ?
This generally happens when you try to download a
file which is shared by a single user. For best downloads we recommend
you to download files that are shared by large number of hosts. (The
number of hosts sharing the file is shown by a plus sign before the
file name and a briefcase which bears the actual number of people
sharing the file).
-
Why do the files take so long to
download ?
The transfer of a file is dependent on the
bandwidth of the downloader as well as the uploader. Thus it could be
that your bandwidth is high but the speed of the person downloading
the file is low.
-
What happens to my downloads if
I exit ?
FunToosh automatically saves all the downloads in a
temporary directory. Thus even after you close FunToosh while
downloading a file you can rest assured that the remaining file will
automatically be downloaded the next time you open FunToosh.
-
Is it possible that I might
download I virus ?
FunToosh does not maintain any data regarding the
files being shared by users of the Gnutella network. Neither do it
scans any file before being downloaded or uploaded. FunToosh therefore
recommend you to install a good anti-virus for protection against
viruses.
-
Where are my files stored after
they have been downloaded?
All files downloaded are moved to My
Documents->FunToosh Shared->myLibrary. However you can directly access
and launch these files from the Library Tab in FunToosh.
Firewall
-
I am behind a firewall. How do
I use FunToosh ?
To use FunToosh when you are behind a firewall
provide internet access to java.exe when you are prompted by your
firewall. Many firewalls ask to Grant server access as against
internet access. In cases where server access is asked please say yes,
and in cases where you are asked only for internet access please say
yes here also. For more help, please consult your product
documentation. Please see that some organizations provide web-only
proxy or a SOCKS proxy. In these cases FunToosh might fail to work.
-
How do I know if I am behind a
firewall ?
Generally most organizations are behind some kind
of a firewall. Please contact your System Administrator about the type
of firewall the organization is using.
-
What is a push request ?
When downloading files you might
view push requests. A "push" is a signal sent by your computer to a
firewalled computer, which requests that the firewalled computer
initiates a file transfer. If your computer is also behind a firewall,
the push request will fail.
Memory Profiler
-
What is this Memory Profiler ?
Memory Profiler is a smart way to keep your PC
running smoothly. Memory Profiler keeps a tab on the system memory and
keeps a minimum level of free memory available. This increases the
speed of your system in general.
-
Where is the Memory Profiler
setting available ?
You can change the settings of the Memory Profiler
from Settings->Memory Profiler. However a shortcut is directly
available from the icon in the System Tray.
